Steele by Erin Bevan

 MEET BLAKE STEELE!
That's right... keep reading for a sneak peek from Steele by Erin Bevan.
IT RELEASES NOVEMBER 14TH
RESERVE YOUR COPY TODAY:
BLURB:
Hometown firefighter, Blake Steele is living day by day, desperately trying to ease his guilt about his haunted past. When the beautiful Mary Franks moves in next-door, the conflict between what he knows in his head and what he feels in his heart suddenly becomes his most important struggle.
For Mary, living next door to a firefighter should be comforting, except her new neighbor continues to make a nuisance of himself by insisting on helping her—with everything. Despite her efforts, she can’t help but fall for him the more he hangs around. But love isn’t something Mary has time for. She has two goals: raising her son and hiding her illegal activities to keep her son safe.
When Mary’s ex is granted parole and fights to get his son back, she relies on Blake for support. But, as Blake uncovers the lies she’s kept, he is forced to face his own past to protect their futures before both of their lives go up in flames. Literally.
 ENJOY THIS EXCERPT:
Taking his seat first, he firmly gripped her hips, and guided her down to a seated position beside him. She snuggled in his arms, their backs pressing against the siding of the house.
“I reached over to your side of the bed and you were gone.”
“Did it worry you?” His tone was soft, joking, almost like he couldn’t believe him not being there wouldn’t concern her. But when her hand felt soft cotton, and not the hard muscles of his chest, she had panicked, and worried they were over before they really began. The idea of his absence—although only brief— left more of a void than her failed marriage. Thoughts that, come morning, she would surely realize were completely irrational. Blake wouldn’t leave his own house or her in the middle of the night. But in the still of the night, surrounded in darkness, her logic had disappeared just like he had.
“Yes, it did. I missed you next to me.” She gripped his kneecap. “What are you doing out here?”
He intertwined his fingers between hers, leaving their hands on his knee. “Star gazing.” He stared up at the sky.
So perfectly still, he appeared completely at peace—yet this nagging notion inside of her lead her to believe there was more sadness in his motions than peace.
She focused on the stars, trying to see exactly what it was he did. The night sky was so bright it was as if she could see every star in the galaxy, but she’d just scratched the surface. And, just like the sky above her, Blake Steele wasn’t everything he appeared to be either. There was something deeper and beyond the surface he hid from her and from the world. She knew because she did the same thing.
Another breeze floated past her and she shivered.
“Cold?” Blake tightened his hold on her.
“A little. Aren’t you?” He sat next to her in a pair of pajama pants and no shirt, and despite being wrapped in a sheet; she could feel the heat radiating from his body.
“No. I stay pretty hot, besides, I have you to warm me up.” He gently eased her head to his chest, giving her a better angle of the night sky.
The soft patter of his heartbeat, the stillness of his calm body, the comfort he provided could lull her to sleep if she hadn’t been a ball of nerves—from all the thinking she’d been doing. About him. About her. About Nathaniel. About everything.
In her soul she knew he would never hurt her, but she couldn’t shake the nerves from being seen on Blake’s roof, his arms around her, in nothing but a sheet. Dating wasn’t technically against the rules for her, but was it wise? Did it look like her focus wasn’t on Nathaniel despite the fact that everything she did was for him?
“So, why are you out here at midnight star gazing?” She changed the subject, trying to take her mind off her own worries.
What was underneath his tough surface? Who really was Blake Steele…the man who wants to love her?
JaM Review: 5 Stars from Jessica
This is the first book I have read by this author and I will be reading more. I am already wanting to go back and read the book Tank because I loved him in this book. I got a copy to read from the author/promotional tour company and I chose to review it.

This book story had me hooked with the great writing that took us through so much emotion through the grittiness of the criminal activity that goes on. This book was one of my top reads this year.

The two main characters Blake "Steele" and Mary are both damaged for lack of a better word. Blake is a firefighter and protector though The Blue Guardians. I loved his character so much. He goes through so much before this story actually happens but we get the background of it and He is a guy I would love to have in my life. Mary is a great mom who will do whatever it takes to protect her son. She has been through a lot but its still not over, maybe it never will be but she is strong enough to work through it all.

Nathaniel "Bear" was my favorite character in this story, He stole my heart. He is such a strong kid, he has been through a lot in his little life. I really hope we get a story of him when he is all grown up.

Will Steele forgive himself for what happened when he was younger or will he keep suffering because of it. Will Mary be able to trust a man again and let him into her life? Will the chemistry between the two be enough to see them together or will it just be there leaving them wanting each other but not working out? One click this one! Its is great!

“Did you have fun with the girls?”
“Yeah. They’re nice and scary.”
“Scary how?” I reached forward and placed my hand on top of hers and was pleased when she didn’t pull away.
“I wouldn’t ever want to be on their bad side.”
“Ahh, Stella.”
We were quiet for a few minutes, and the smell of her perfume hit me. Whatever the scent was, it seemed to fit her, and I leaned back against the couch, breathing it in. When I looked to her again, she was smiling.
Since the first time I’d met her, every time I’d been near her and watched her lips move, I wanted to kiss them. Or rub my thumbs across her forehead and smooth out the crease that formed when she was deep in thought. I was stunned to realize that there were several little things that I had already memorized about this woman in such a short time. And that one little kiss we’d had yesterday wasn’t enough, I wasn’t sure if it would ever be enough.
A stray strand of hair fell across her face, and I didn’t fight back the urge to tuck it behind her ear. I rested my thumb on the apple of her cheek as I lightly caressed her face. Without moving my thumb, I stretched my fingers that were cradling her head until I could feel her silky locks of hair. She was gazing deep into my eyes, and I was fucked. I’d fallen hard for Katy, my assistant.
I thought for a moment about telling her everything, was it better for both of us to come clean or wait until she returned the feelings? Fuck, why wasn’t this shit easy? There needed to be some motherfucking handbook.
You want a girl to admit that she likes you, turn to chapter seven.
You want a girl to ask for help, turn to page twelve.
As this point, I was willing to read instructions in Japanese and hire a translator just to get answers.
The first question I’d look up in that manual would be how to admit you had known she was living in one of your model homes. Sure, Elliot from SpyGuys had said that what I was doing was standard video security. But my conscience knew the difference. Once I had seen her, the only security I used it for was my own. I wanted to know that they were safe.

Switch by Adriana Locke Excerpt Reveal

Title: Switch
Series: Landry Family #3
Author: Adriana Locke
Genre: Romantic Comedy
Release Date: February 20, 2017

Blurb

Mallory Sims is late for her first day of work.

After spilling her tea, she discovers she has no gas in her car. Add that her arm keeps sticking to her dress from syrup left on the console of her car, flustered feels like an understatement.

Then she sees her new boss.

Graham Landry is the epitome of NSFW in his custom-fit suit, black-rimmed glasses, and a look so stern her libido doesn’t stand a chance. Being flustered is just the start of her problems.

Her punctuality is only the start of his. With a pink slip in hand, he’s been waiting on his new secretary to show up only to let her go. Then she rushes in with her doe eyes and rambling excuses, smelling like bacon and lavender. The termination paper falls to the side as she falls in his arms.

This is a disaster in the making. Not because of his pinpoint exactness or her free spirit, but because when they’re together, the sparks that fly threaten to burn the whole place down.

Excerpt

We both know we aren’t just talking about a moved stapler or a mishmash of files. As that really sets in, the air around us gets heavier. Hotter. Hazardous.

“Those things always lead to dangerous situations,” he says, his eyes trained on me.

I shift in my seat, the throb between my legs growing stronger by the second. “People do it every day and survive.”

“They may survive, but don’t things get messy?”

“Only if they do it right.”

His chair flies backwards and he’s to his feet and next to me before I know what’s happening. He doesn’t ask that I stand, but he doesn’t have to. It’s implied and my body reacts accordingly to his silent command.

We stand face-to-face, our breathing ragged. Our chests heave with the anticipation, the possibility, of what might come next.

“You are, quite possibly, the most dangerous of them all,” he says, his voice rough.

“Why is that?” I breathe.

“There’s no plan for you.”

“But you’ve already penciled me in, haven’t you, Graham?” I ask, finding the courage to play this little game with him. Being strictly professional is incredibly hard, and this is way too easy.

I can flirt with the best of them in a bar or on a college campus. But here, with him, it’s a game all its own. A level I had no idea I’d ever be a contender in. Maybe I’m not, but I’m going to play the hell out of it while I’m here … even though if I keep it up, I might not be here for long.

“What do you want, Mallory?”

“I want to do all the things you ask of me and do them better than you ever expected they could be done.”

A rumble emits from his throat as his eyes darken. My knees go weak and I grab the table with my left hand to ensure I don’t fall.

He licks his lips and flips his gaze to my mouth. I think I whimper as I lift my chin, waiting to see what he does next. My entire body is on fire for this man, my heart thumping so hard I’m sure he can hear it.

He moves so my back is pressed against the table, our food long forgotten. His hands are on either side of me, caging me in. Our eyes locked together, he leans in, a slow smirk spreading across his gorgeous face.

“Excuse me, Mr. Landry. Ford is here to see you,” Raza chirps through the line.

We exhale simultaneously, a giggle escaping with mine. There’s nothing funny about this, but the energy has to come out in some way.

“Mr. Landry?” she asks again.

“I’ll be right out. Thank you, Raza.”

“Oh, you’re so welcome, sir.” The line clicks off and Graham marches across the room and punches a button. The light on top indicates he’s not to be disturbed.

I busy myself with cleaning up our lunch, and before he’s at my side again, I have everything bundled up.

“Thanks for lunch,” I say like nothing just happened.

“Mallory …” He runs his hand through his hair, leaving one lock sticking up. Knowing what that will look like if we walk out together, I reach up, hesitating for a split second, before smoothing it out.

His hair is silky against my fingers. He jumps when I touch him at first, but doesn’t back away. “What are you doing?”

“Nothing went on in here. I refuse for it to look like something did. That’s the way rumors get spread, Mr. Landry.”

“Mallory, I …”

I get a final look at his face, reach up and straighten his tie as his eyes go wide, then turn towards the door. “I’ll send Ford in.”

“Mallory!”

“Yeah?” I turn to see him over my shoulder. He’s standing by the table, his hands in his pockets looking frazzled. When he doesn’t respond, I place my hand on the knob. “I’ll have that file back to you before I leave today. Thanks again for lunch.”

I walk out before I can change my mind.

“So, I’m not a stranger?” Bridger teased.

When he held me in his arms like that, the last thing he felt like was a stranger.

“No,” I managed shyly. I couldn’t believe how comfortable I was around him. He and I came from different worlds, but his embrace seemed like the safest place in the world. I suspected those big strong arms that just pulled me around the dance floor could protect me better than any man I’d ever met.

“Want to dance some more?” he asked.

“Yes.” I nodded enthusiastically.

We whirled across the floor, his hand on the small of my back guiding me, the muscles on the back of his neck pulsing under my fingertips. He smelled better than I would have dreamed—a combination of sandalwood and leather that spurred a sense of longing that made me imagine kissing his earlobe.

But before I could summon the courage to do it, the band stopped playing, and Bridger grabbed my hand. “Ready?”

I was ready for anything he wanted, so I said, “Sure.”

He walked me out to the parking lot and stood by an old gray pickup truck. That didn’t surprise me, but when he opened the passenger door to the eggplant-colored Dodge Viper next to it, I was caught off guard.

“I thought—” I started, but then tried to stop myself before I said something stupid, or worse, insulting.

He chuckled. “That the pickup was mine?”

I smiled, but didn’t answer.

“I get it.” Then he mumbled something about an inheritance and got behind the wheel. So, the mechanic, who’d been wounded in combat and was a SEAL no less, was also an heir of some sort. The better I got to know Bridger, the more I realized he was much more complicated than I’d originally thought.

There was a lot more to him than that deliciously curly brown hair and those piercing green eyes.
